HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Kentucky cannabis officials say the first sales will happen soon.
Lawmakers heard from the Kentucky Office of Medical Cannabis on Wednesday and were told the state's first cannabis processor is almost approved and 46 of 48 dispensary locations are finalized.
The post in Beaver Dam is the first to be fully approved and is ready to operate. It was at this time last year that Kentucky held business license lotteries to get the state's medical cannabis program off the ground.
The program which legally began on January first has yet to open a dispensary to begin sales.
