HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) - Former interim Evansville Fire Chief Paul Anslinger has filed a lawsuit against the city claiming he is owed thousands of dollars in back pay.
According to court documents, Anslinger says he correctly submitted his retirement in April of 2024, but the city acted in bad faith by refusing to pay his accrued wages, including more than $10,000 in vacation pay. Anslinger is asking for more than $20,000 in liquidated damages.
In additional court filings, the city says Anslinger is not owed unpaid wages and denies any wrongdoing.
A hearing is scheduled for December 17. Anslinger is also set to go on trial in April on charges of theft and official misconduct.
