Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia won’t be around for Game 1 of the World Series.
With the Fall Classic set to start Friday, Los Angeles announced on Thursday that Vesia, 29, will be “away from the team.”
“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife Kayla navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the Dodgers said in a statement posted to X . “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family, and we will provide an update at a later date.”
It remains unclear what exactly the personal matter is or how much time the lefty will miss. 3
Vesia, drafted by the Marlins in 2018, has spent the past five seasons with Los Angeles after Miami dealt him to the Dodgers ahead of the 2021 season. 3
