IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office (CCCSO) said a suspect is in custody following a series of crimes that began with a hit and run on Saturday.

CCCSO said officers with the Idaho Springs Police Department (ISPD) responded to a report of a driver in a dark gray Toyota Tacoma harassing people and driving recklessly in a Safeway parking lot. Deputies responded alongside police.

Deputies said they could not find the vehicle and decided to respond to the suspect’s home in Dumont.

While on the way to the suspect’s home, deputies said they found the Tacoma on Dumont Road and blocked the vehicle in.

Law enforcement instructed the suspect, Aaron Family, to exit his vehicle, but CCCSO said he refused.
