BEATRICE, Neb. (KOLN) - After seven seasons leading the Beatrice Lady Orange softball program, head coach Gary Lytle announced he is stepping down.

Lytle took over in 2018 and guided the Lady Orange to a 196–56 record (77.8%). Under his leadership, Beatrice reached the state championship game four times and captured the Class B state title in 2024.

“Coach Lytle has left an incredible mark on our program,” said Cale Kaiser, Beatrice Activities Director. “He has built a culture rooted in hard work, integrity, and team-first values. His players have not only achieved success on the field but have grown as leaders and young women under his direction.”

Beatrice Public Schools said Lytle’s impact extends far beyond wins and championships.
