LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln North Star captured the Heartland Athletic Conference volleyball championship for the first time in school history on Thursday. The Navigators defeated Lincoln Southwest, 3-1 (25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 25-17) at Ed Johnson Gym.
The Navigators took control of the match in the third set behind strong floor defense and timely kills by Delainey Volkmer and Lauren McKernan. Volkmer, a junior outside hitter, finished with a match-high 18 kills.
Lincoln North Star, who was the tournament’s #1 seed, raised its record to 28-4. The Navigators posted wins over Lincoln East and Fremont to reach the HAC final.
Lincoln Southwest, meanwhile, slips to 21-9. Both teams will host districts next week.
