SARASOTA, Fla. (WFLA) -- A basketball hoop at a Sarasota park is back up after the city took it down because of a threat against the people who use it.
Jamika Williams said her kids play at Mary Dead Park just about every day.
"They just do homework. And once they're finished, they're up to the park," Williams said.
But Wednesday when her son got to the park, they noticed the hoop was gone.
"When I first see my son and the look on his face, it shattered me," Williams said.
The City of Sarasota said Wednesday they were made aware of a threat against people using the basketball hoop at the park. The city said the hoop was removed out of concern for the safety of the community. The Sarasota Police Department said this is an open, active, and ongoing investigation.
