Could this be the best lawn in the Central West?

Well Bathurst's Phil Cant will be hoping it is.

The self-confessed 'Lawn Man' is now in the running for the title of Australia's best lawn in the Yates National Gardening League (NGL).

Mr Cant, a former teacher who now works for Tennis Australia, spends about five hours every weekend perfecting his patch, which he says has become the pride of Lorimer Street, Llanarth.

But what's the secret to having an impressive lawn ?

"I think it's largely down to hard work, preparation and planning," he explained

"You've got to make sure there's some good topsoil and irrigation in the summer and you've got to fertilize and mow regularly."
