WASHINGTON — Demolition continues this week to the East Wing of the White House. It's to make way for a new ballroom.
"You probably hear the beautiful sound of construction to the back," President Donald Trump said during recent remarks. "You hear that sound? Oh, that's music to my ears. I love that sound. Other people don't like it."
The project is estimated to cost about $300 million. "$300 million is the figure and again it's not going to cost the taxpayers a dime," White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said.
About three miles away at East Potomac Golf Links, a fresh pile of dirt appeared near the course's ninth fairway this week. Regular golfers at the course say it's a new sight.
