NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Dickson County family is turning their heartbreak into action as they joined other families for Light The Night, an event that raises money for blood cancer research.

The event was held Thursday night at First Horizon Park, and it raised more than $850,000.

Josh Ford was one of many people honored at the event.

He was 36 years old when he lost his battle with blood cancer.

"He was a positive person, so when anyone in the family was down, his smile would light up the room," Josh's mom, Sherry Gibson, said.

"He was a big teddy bear and loved everyone," his sister Heather Ford said. "He loved to laugh."

His family said the diagnosis came as a shock in 2023.
