WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Part of West Hartford's "Vision Zero" plan to eliminate traffic fatalities by 2032 is making improvements to traffic flow and pedestrian crossings.
One of those elements is the first roundabout in the town at King Philip Drive and Old Meadow Road.
Its introduction did not go over well with some drivers, as many were confused by the foreign circular intersection design. The town had to put orange construction barrels on the center to prevent cars from going straight through it.
“Construction took so long I got used to going out the back way on the roads there. So I avoid the roundabout, I haven’t driven on it yet," said Roger Adler, who has lived in town for two decades. “I see some drivers who hesitate, they seem a little confused by it.”
