KHADC Executive Member in-charge Land Powell Sohkhlet on Thursday informed the House that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) will no longer acquire land at Sohbajram (Photmula) in South West Khasi Hills for setting up of the Border Security Force (BSF) camp.
Sohkhlet, who is in-charge of Elaka, revealed this in response to a question raised by Ranikor MDC Pius Marwein.
He explained that earlier, the Hima Maharam had decided to allot a plot of land in Sohbajram (Photmula) to the BSF, but after receiving a complaint from the Khasi Students Union (KSU), the Executive Committee (EC) of KHADC sought an explanation from the Syiem of Hima Maharam.
