Lou Kigginger and Sasha Pash won individual titles to help La Center’s boys and girls cross country teams sweep the 1A Trico League championships Thursday at Vancouver Lake.
Kigginger won the 5,000-kilometer course in 16 minutes, 58 seconds, besting Seton Catholic’s Max Moran by 3 seconds (17:01). Lance Cole (third), Sharp Young (fifth) and Logan Hubler (sixth) all finished inside the top 10 to help the Wildcats earn 25 team points.
On the girls side, Pash ran the course in 19:57 as the only runner inside 20 minutes. Columbia-White Salmon’s Kathryn O’Connor (20:26) placed second (20:26). Teammates Evalyn Barnes (fourth), Alice Cottle (sixth) and Hannah Zylstra (eight) finished in the top 10, as La Center won the team title with 39 points.
