Over 100 passengers have died in major sleeper bus fire accidents across India in the past decade. Collisions, electrical faults, and poor enforcement of safety norms continue to endanger lives, underscoring the urgent need for regulatory overhaul.
Hyderabad: Fire incidents in buses, especially sleeper AC luxury coaches, and causing a high number of passenger fatalities in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and other major urban centres in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Karnataka, have tragically continued to occur in the recent years.

October, 2025: Kurnool (Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway): 20 fatalities (Private AC luxury sleeper bus): Bus collided with a motorcycle.
