SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KCAU) — One person was taken into custody on Thursday night after allegedly threatening to kill people in a northeastern Nebraska community.

According to the South Sioux City Police Department, they received a call from a distressed man who was walking in the area of 4th Avenue. He told officials that he had a rifle and was going to possibly shoot some people.

Authorities arrived in the 2000 block of 4th Avenue and saw the man running westbound. Police called in Dakota County Sheriff's Office, Nebraska State Patrol, and Sioux City Police Department to assist.

The man eluded law enforcement for more than an hour in an area just east of Nebraska Highway 77.

Officials said multiple drones were used to locate the man in the 700 block of West 21st Street.
