Scottville Area Senior Center hosted its annual recognition dinner for kinship families on Wednesday, as part of their Grandparents Raising Grandchildren program — a time to thank grandparents, aunts and uncles and other relatives who step in for their younger family members.

“The purpose of this evening is to honor those of you who are raising young relatives. To us you are heroes and we are so happy to have you here and so glad to celebrate you and your kinship families, and so I thank you all for coming and thank you for being a part of our program,” said Bill Kerans, director of the Scottville Area Senior Center.
