HAMPTON ROADS, Va. (WAVY) — Military families rely on the region's commissaries for low grocery prices at the checkout counter, but now, it appears the Trump administration is preparing to sell nearly 200 stores to the private sector.
Every day is a super sale day at the nation's commissaries. According to the Military Times, the discount is about 24% at supermarkets for military families.
As the troops are dealing with outdated military buildings and systems across the region, Military Times reports the Department of War is preparing to sell — as is — 178 commissaries in the continential United States, Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico to inverstors and grocery store chains.
