Rapper and actor Ghetts has been charged over a fatal hit-and-run incident. The Supacell actor, real name Justin Clarke-Samuel, has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving. According to London's Metropolitan Police, the 41-year-old musician allegedly failed to stop after hitting a 20-year-old man on Redbridge Lane East in the East London neighbourhood of Ilford on Saturday 18 October. The British grime MC appeared in Stratford Magistrates' Court on Monday and was remanded in custody before his next appearance at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Monday 27 October. The man died in hospital on Monday, and the charge against Clarke-Samuel is expected to be upgraded from causing serious injury to causing death by dangerous driving at the next court hearing. According to BBC News, police are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward with information. Ghetts, who played Glastonbury last year, has released five albums and collaborated with high-profile artists including Ed Sheeran, Stormzy and Skepta throughout his career. Last year, he was nominated for the Mercury Prize for his album, On Purpose, with Purpose, and had a supporting role in the Netflix superhero series Supacell.
