GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Work is scheduled to begin Monday on two bridges that cross over the North and South Santee rivers.
Georgetown County Government officials said construction crews will begin rehabilitation work on the US 17 southbound bridges starting on Oct. 27.
The project is expected to last for about six months.
Drivers passing through the area should expect lane closures and some delays while traveling from Georgetown to Charleston, according to the construction company.
When the work begins, the speed limit on the bridges will be reduced to 35 mph when lane closures are in place.
Traffic control measures and road work crews will be present throughout the project. Drivers should use caution when traveling through the work zone and follow all posted signage.
