WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - UConn’s Health Disparities Institute and the Menopause Equity Initiative are working to break the silence surrounding menopause through education and open conversation.
The initiative is built on addressing the reality that for many women, menopause symptoms come without warning, leaving them feeling confused, dismissed or misunderstood.
“I had a breakout going across my face. It took me a long while to realize that it was menopause,” said Kyra Dorsey, a member of the Farmington Valley Chapter of The Links, Inc., which is part of the Menopause Equity Coalition.
