BROWN COUNTY, Ohio —

A man is dead after he was hit by a car that left the scene overnight in Brown County.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash happened sometime early Friday morning along State Route 125 in Jefferson Township. Advertisement

OSP said a Rumpke driver spotted a body along the roadway and called 911.

OSP said it was determined the man was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 22-year-old Caleb Holbert, from Russellville.

OSP said a Ford vehicle part was located on scene, and the suspect vehicle may be of that make.

The roadway is currently closed during the crash investigation. The Ohio Department of Transportation is on scene with detours currently in place.
