India-US trade deal: India and the US are ‘very near’ to finalizing a trade deal, a government official said. The statement also indicated that India and the US are fine-tuning details of the trade deal. The two countries have completed five rounds of discussions thus far regarding the first phase of their bilateral trade agreement. The Donald Trump administration has imposed 50% tariffs on Indian exports, part of which are for India’s crude oil imports from Russia. In the last few days Trump has repeatedly claimed that India will stop buying Russian crude oil in the coming months.
