New Delhi, Oct 24: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has launched its first HTT-40 trainer aircraft, TH 4001, at its Bengaluru facility. The aircraft is designed for basic flight training, aerobatics, instrument flying, and night flying.
The HTT-40 is an ab-initio trainer aircraft, built around a proven turboprop engine, and has a maximum speed of 450 km/h and a service ceiling of six km.
The aircraft first flew in 2016 and received system-level certification in 2022. The Indian Air Force (IAF) has signed a contract with HAL for the supply of 70 aircraft, with the induction expected to commence in 2025.
The procurement will also include a Full Mission Simulator for pilots to practice different profiles on ground.
