IIT Bhubaneswar and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), through its National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 17, 2025, to promote collaborative research and development.

The announcement was made public on January 24, 2025.

This strategic partnership aims to assess physical and biogeochemical oceanic processes and monitor shoreline change dynamics along the western Bay of Bengal. During the pilot phase, researchers will map and analyze nearshore dynamics from the Sundarbans delta to northern Andhra Pradesh. The collaboration may expand to other Indian coastal regions under a future MoU.
