OMAHA, Neb. —

Doctors at Nebraska Medicine say there aren't enough Black dermatologists, and that it can lead to issues for black patients. The Skin of Color/Ethnic Skin Clinic hopes to counter that with its unique approach.

For MJ Adams, finding a dermatologist of color was a struggle.

"I had a doctor once who told me, she referred me to a doctor of color in Washington," Adams said.

Through her own research, she found the doctor she needed, Dr. Erin Barrett.

Barrett leads Nebraska's Skin of Color/Ethnic Skin Clinic. She says 90% of the clinic's patients are Black. That's part of why she's concerned about a shortage of Black dermatologists locally and nationally.
