SAN ANTONIO — Seven students are facing charges after a large fight at Highlands High School last month that left a staff member injured, according to an arrest affidavit.
The fight broke out around 1:30 p.m. on September 30 in the school’s courtyard, where investigators said an estimated 50 students gathered to watch as several classmates punched and kicked each other.
A San Antonio ISD police officer responding to reports of a large fight called for backup after seeing the size of the crowd, according to the affidavit. The officer and her partner tried to separate two students who were fighting, but the students refused to stop.
