Several Alaska Airlines flights were canceled or delayed at Boston's Logan International Airport due to an IT outage reported on Thursday, Oct. 23.
The Seattle-based airline said the outage began around 6:30 p.m. ET and "impacted several of our key systems that enable us to run various operations," resulting in a temporary, systemwide ground stop .
Alaska Airlines said that the outage started with a "failure at our primary data center" and was not cybersecurity-related.
Although the ground stop was lifted on Oct. 24 at 2:30 a.m. ET, more than 229 Alaska Airlines and regional Horizon Air flights across the nation were canceled, the airline said .
"We are working to get our operations back on track as quickly and safely as possible," Alaska Airlines said in a statement.
