CAMBRIDGE, Mass. —

Nearly a year after residents of a Cambridge condominium overlooking the Charles River were evacuated from their homes, work to demolish the unsafe structure is nearly ready to begin.

Plans presented this week show that pre-demolition surveys will begin next week, followed by contractor preparations starting during the week of Nov. 3. Equipment is expected to arrive starting in mid-November, with the actual demolition scheduled to begin on Dec. 1.

Demolition is expected to last through March.

Officials are concerned about the structural stability of the Riverview Condominium building at 221 Mount Auburn St. Residents of the building's 66 units were evacuated from their homes in November.
