A report presented to the Kingston Police Service Board on Thursday has revealed some gaps in not only force demographics, but also the data that the force collects on its members.

The report was pursued after a motion was passed at a July meeting of the Kingston Police Service Board to provide a comprehensive demographic breakdown of the force, including both sworn and civilian members.

While the report presented to the board on Thursday revealed that a majority of officers are male — 82 per cent are male and only 18 per cent are female — it doesn’t provide any information regarding diversity, equity and inclusion.
