PEORIA ( 25News Now ) - Fewer people were in the courtroom Thursday as the fourth day in the trial of Sean Grayson , a former Sangamon County sheriff’s deputy, began.

The ex-deputy is charged with three counts of first-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing Sonya Massey in her home on July 6, 2024.

The fifth witness on the witness list, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Technician Adam Markwell, described and confirmed three shell casings that were shown to the courtroom, along with the medical kit that was used on scene.

Markwell said he returned to the scene two days later to collect a third shell casing after viewing body camera footage and realizing there were three shots fired.

He also said he attended Massey’s autopsy to collect clothing, fingerprints and a post-mor
