Penticton could soon see a new set of golden arches as a third McDonald’s restaurant is being proposed for the corner of Highway 97 (Railway Avenue) and Eckhardt Avenue West, across from the Chevron gas station.

Following a presentation by city planner Audrey Tanguay at Tuesday’s regular council meeting, the proposal was advanced to the next step -- a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The applicant is seeking to rezone the property from General Industrial to General Commercial to allow for the development of a 360-square-metre McDonald’s restaurant, Tanguay explained.

“The zoning amendment is the first step in the approval process,” she said, noting that additional applications will be required for design and construction details if the rezoning is approved.
