ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The United States general election is set for Tuesday, November 4. There are several notable local races taking place in the Capital Region. Here's what you need to know if you're planning on heading to the polls.

To vote in this election, you must register by October 25 (if not already registered). Early voting in New York takes place from October 25 to November 2. If you voted early, you cannot also vote on Election Day.

If you want an early mail ballot or absentee ballot, you must request it by October 25 (if requested to be mailed) or November 3 (if requested in person).
