PHILADELPHIA — What’s wrong with Saquon Barkley?

If you want the right answer, don’t ask Barkley.

“I have to do a better job of not taking negative runs,” Barkley said Sunday after his streak without a 100-yard rushing performance reached eight games, dating to the Eagles’ Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs. “I keep saying that. I know I sound like a broken record, but that’s something I’ve got to do. I own it.”

That’s good and there’s a kernel of truth to what he says.

Barkley carried the football 18 times for 44 yards in Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Vikings and seven of his carries went for zero or negative yards. Ten days earlier, he carried the ball 12 times for 58 yards in a loss to the Giants and five of his carries went for zero or negative yards.
