ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A retired New York State Trooper was arrested on Friday morning. Thomas Mungeer, 56, was charged with third-degree grand larceny.

The state police said Mungeer is accused of stealing union funds between March 5, 2018, and October 4, 2022, while serving as President of the New York State Troopers Police Benevolent Association. Troopers would not specify the amount of money he is alleged to have misappropriated, but they said he used these funds for personal uses and expenses and it totaled to a value of more than $3,000.

Mungeer was arrested at the State Police Troop G Headquarters in Latham before being arraigned in Albany City Court. He was released and will return to Albany County Superior Court on December 1.
