ALGONA, Iowa -- A threat has caused the Algona Community School District in Kossuth County to cancel classes for Friday.
The district first announced it was canceling classes at 8:22 a.m. in a post to its Facebook page, but did not provide a reason for the cancellation. At 8:38 p.m., a new post provided more details that the threat could be part of a swatting incident.
"Today the Algona CSD received a threat that of an explosive in our buildings. We have been working with the Kossuth County Sheriff's Department and the Algona Police Department to ensure the safety of our buildings by following our regular safety protocols.
