ALGONA, Iowa (KCRG) - The Algona School District cancelled classes Friday in response to what it called a series of threats made nationwide.
The district called off classes Friday morning. A few minutes later, the district added details that it had received a threat that an explosive in school buildings. It turns out that threat was one of several made across the country.
“We have learned through working with state and federal authorities that this is a threat that has been made in other places throughout the nation,” the district’s Facebook post reads .
The district promised updates on the impact to events Friday evening, including the final regular season football game scheduled between Algona and fourth-ranked Bishop Heelan.
