The outgoing premier of Newfoundland and Labrador has systematically refused to grant interviews since his Liberal Party’s defeat at the hands of the Progressive Conservatives – more than a week ago.
John Hogan has made no public statements since his emotional concession speech on Oct. 14, leading to questions about his political future at the head of the Liberals, who are now reduced to Official Opposition status at the House of Assembly.
“A week is a long time,” said Yvon Grenier, a political scientist at St. Francis Xavier University, who added Hogan promised supporters a major Liberal victory just days before his party’s loss.
“The Liberals thought they were going to win.”
