Several people were injured Thursday morning when there was an explosion at a manhole site in Calgary's Beltline, where they were working.
Emergency crews were called to Macleod Trail near 14th Avenue S.E. at about 7:50 a.m., said fire department spokesperson Alex Kwan.
Two workers were underground and three others up top when the blast occurred, followed by a flash of flames, he said.
“All workers were able to self-evacuate from the area and underground vault,” Kwan said.
Macleod Trail was closed between 14th Avenue S.E. and 17th Avenue S.E. for several hours. It has now reopened. (Ted Henley/CBC)
