After serving two years as the president of Sault College, David Orazietti has retired.

The Sault College Board of Governors confirmed to CBC Sault Ste. Marie on Wednesday that Orazietti recently made a personal decision to exit the role.

“The Board thanks Mr. Orazietti for his contributions to Sault College throughout his tenure,” it issued in a statement.

Orazietti had been on leave from the college since the summer.

Sherri Smith will continue to serve as interim president until further notice, Sault College said.

The Board of Governors said it “has full confidence in President Smith’s leadership and ability to guide the College during this period of transition.”
