Britons experiencing particular Covid-19 symptoms are being advised to book an 'urgent appointment' with their GP or call 111 for further assistance. This guidance comes as the XFG variant of coronavirus remains the dominant strain affecting UK Covid case figures.
Recent data from the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) shows that both influenza and Covid-19 infections have been climbing since late September, as temperatures have dropped nationwide.
The government agency recorded a week-on-week rise in Covid-19 positivity rates from 7.6% to 8.4%, whilst hospital admissions linked to the virus increased from 2 per 100,000 to 2.73 per 100,000.
