The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners (BOC) say they are planning to raise property taxes.

On Friday, commissioners announced that they are planning to raise the amount of money that the 2025 tax rate brought in by 23.18 percent over the rollback millage rate.

"When the total digest of taxable property is prepared, Georgia law requires a rollback millage rate must be computed that will produce the same total revenue on the current year’s digest that last year’s millage rate would have produced had no reassessments occurred,” said Valeria Molina, communications director for the Whitfield County BOC.

Before commissioners can legally set a final millage rate, three public meetings must be held to allow residents to share their opinions on the proposal.
