Authorities Friday released video of a 41-year-old man who was shot to death by a San Diego police officer after allegedly bringing weapons onto the grounds of a City Heights primary school.

Around 6:45 a.m. on Sept. 23, officers received a report about a trespasser, later identified as Huy Ly, sitting on the property of Fay Elementary School in the 4000 block of 52nd Street, according to the San Diego Police Department.

A short time later, officers located Ly on nearby Orange Avenue, with what investigators determined to be a “replica” handgun next to him and a knife in his hand. After repeatedly ordering Ly to surrender and drop his weapons, he attempted to escape down a nearby alley.
