Fayetteville police relied on private surveillance footage to piece together what they say happened in the moments before three high school football players were killed in a wreck Oct. 8, court records reveal.

According Destini Genwright's arrest affidavit, cameras along Rosehill Road captured video of Genwright, 19, and her sister Dymond Monroe, 21, apparently racing just before Monroe’s vehicle struck a telephone pole and tree.The impact killed Monroe’s passenger: Nicholas Kole Williams , 17; Trevor Jayshawn Merritt , 17; and Jai'Hyon Lamont Elliott , 18. The teens were senior classmates at E.E. Smith High School and all played on the varsity football team.
