The runner-up in Edmonton’s mayoral race is calling for a citywide audit into the municipal election, after it was discovered that incorrect results were reported in a ward that flipped the outcome of that ward’s race.

Tim Cartmell, who lost to mayor-elect Andrew Knack, said he is not contesting the results in the mayoral race, but believes the circumstances around the results in Ward sipiwiyiniwak, in particular, should be reviewed.

Official municipal election results are due at noon MT on Friday. But the initial reported result for the Ward sipiwiyiniwak councillor race flipped Wednesday, after Edmonton Elections recounted ballots.
