A beloved local market is back in business after a summer fire nearly destroyed it.

What’s Happening: Community Roots Market opened its doors again this morning in downtown Madison. The fresh foods market has been closed since a fire damaged the building in July.

The market now sells fresh pasta, organic fruits and vegetables, organic chicken, salmon, and flowers from local farms and makers.

Owner Cindi Fetch saved parts of the original building, including wooden bookcases and an entrance arch.

What’s Important: The market added more hours to help families shop easier. It now opens at 10 a.m. instead of 11 a.m. Tuesday through Saturday, and added Sunday hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
