NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - To address depth issues in the frontcourt, the New Orleans Pelicans have signed free agent center DeAndre Jordan.

The Pelicans were already thin in the frontcourt with injuries to centers Kevon Looney (knee) and Karlo Matkovic (back spasms). That issue grew to critical status when starting center Yves Missi exited late in the 128-122 road loss to Memphis with an ankle injury.

Missi is currently listed as “day-to-day” and is questionable for Friday (Oct. 24) in the home opener against the Spurs.

That’s where 17-year NBA vet DeAndre Jordan comes in.

ESPN’s Shams Charania says that the 37-year-old has signed with the Pelicans on a one-year deal worth $3.6 million. After Wednesday’s loss to Memphis, the Pelicans waived guard Jaden Springer to make room for Jordan.
