BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Losing a twin to gun violence is something few can imagine.
For Trinicia Ricks, that pain became reality when her sister, Myesha Davis, was killed in a 2021 murder-suicide by her former boyfriend.
Twins are often described as sharing an unbreakable bond, and Ricks said losing Myesha felt like losing a part of herself.
“For a long time, I didn’t look at mirrors. For that first year, looking at mirrors was tough for me because all I would see is her,” Ricks said.
Every year on the anniversary of Davis’ death, her family gathers for a vigil to celebrate her life and raise awareness about domestic abuse.
Right by Ricks’ side is her nephew, Kyrie, Myesha’s oldest son.
He was just a child when his mother died, but his face lights up when he talks about her.
