Millions of people have been warned about their pensions as experts highlighted a £10,000 rule amid a "big concern" over retirement income. People have been urged to find out how much they will have to live on when they give up working, so they can take action if the figures are too low.

Research shows that more than a third (34 per cent) of UK workers face the prospect of being unable to meet their basic needs during retirement. Scottish Widows and Frontier Economics developed a "national retirement forecast" model to assess the potential retirement incomes of individuals aged 22 to 65, examining their savings and spending patterns.
