A man has been locked up after he suffocated a woman with a pillow in a scary ordeal.

The incident took place on a cruise ship earlier this year, a court heard.

David Morris attacked his victim in April and initially denied any wrongdoing.

However, the 57-year-old from Wolverhampton went on to plead guilty to intentional suffocation last month.

He was sentenced to three years and ten months in prison at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Wednesday, October 22.

The victim in the case has since been praised for her bravery by PC Liam Avery of the south Staffordshire local policing team.
