CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (KCRG) - Year-round schooling and the potential for up to $5,600 in scholarships are part of the plan the University of Northern Iowa has put together for their “Degree in 3″ program.

The University announced the plan on Friday, touting it will save students time and money to earn their degree and start their teaching careers sooner.

“Degree in 3″ is an accelerated program for college students to earn an elementary education Bachelor of Arts degree. The application process is now open, and UNI hopes to have 25 to 30 students in their inaugural class, which starts the fall of 2026.

Course work would be done year-round with classes in the summer and winter semesters, with students eligible for those scholarships to help with summer tuition and the student teaching stip
